Week in Reveiw

Week in Review

You will probably notice tonight that our Week in Review has a new look, again! This is because the new formatting will allow me to show our newsletter right on the blog, without having to click to an outside link.

You can view our Week in Reviews on our new Newsletter page of the blog.

Introducing...

Miss Anna and Miss Emma!

For the remainder of the year these two Lindenwood students will be working in our classroom and helping your students grow and learn. I wanted to take a minute to introduce them.

My name is Anna Kuiper. I am a Freshman at Lindenwood University and am majoring in both Early and Elementary Education. I love working with kids, so I babysit and nanny all the time. I have recently gotten a job at an after school program at Academy of the Sacred Heart, a catholic private elementary school. I am looking forward to more upcoming opportunities to better my career as a future educator. One way in which I get to better my career is school observations at Barretts Elementary. I have already observed one day, and I look forward to encouraging and supporting your child in their studies as I observe/work at Barretts Elementary this semester.

My name is Emma Marsoun and I am a second year student at Lindenwood University. I've always had a passion for working with children. In high school I was lucky enough to be part of a program that allowed me to travel to the different schools within my district so I could work with our special education students. The joy of being in the classroom and having the opportunity to work with the students led me to Lindenwood University where I am studying to earn my Masters Degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in the Autism Spectrum Disorder. I plan to graduate from Lindenwood in the next three years and pursue my passion for teaching.

Side By Side Story Telling by Arts Partners

On Monday, February 9th, we had some very special visitors. Detective Gimm and Detective Anderson from the Once Upon a Time Detective Agency came to our classroom. We worked together to help them solve "The Case of the Missing Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma".

We even received a certificate that states that we have been deputized as story detectives!

And finally, a Thank You letter from Mrs. Red Riding Hood, Axel Woodcutter, and the Big Bad Wolf.

Buddies & Sound

As our sound unit comes to an end we took some time to apply what we've learned about sound to real instruments. Our 5th Grade Buddies showed us their string instruments. We made observations and compared the sounds made by all different types of instruments. We even got to try some of the instruments out!

Homemade Instruments

I was so impressed with the instruments that the students created. We had a lot of fun listening to each others instruments and even trying some of them out. Take a look at what we created.
